A 25-year-old woman was killed early Sunday after she crashed her car into a traffic signal pole in Carlsbad, officials said.
The collision occurred just before 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of El Camino Real and Camino Vida Roble, Lt. Jason Jackowski said in a statement.
The woman was driving northbound on El Camino Real when the vehicle struck a pole on the northeast curb. Jackowski said the vehicle may have been traveling at an excessive speed.
The woman was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by Carlsbad firefighters, Jackowski said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Carlsbad police are investigating the incident. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
