Connecticut State Police are seeking witnesses to a serious crash on Interstate 91 in Hartford early Sunday.

Police said a vehicle operated by a 34-year-old Bloomfield man was southbound north of Exit 33 at about 1:30 a.m., in the center lane of three and, for an as yet unknown reason, swerved into the right lane, continued into the right shoulder, and collided with the metal beam guardrail located in the right shoulder.

The impact caused the vehicle to swerve back into the right lane of travel, cross the center lane, and stop in the left lane of three, police said.

The driver suffered possible serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken by AMR ambulance to Hartford Hospital, state police said. The passenger from that vehicle, a 22-year-old East Hartford man, was taken to Saint Francis Hospital with suspected minor injuries, state police said.

The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage, state police said, and the case remains under investigation.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Trooper Michael Dean #416, at Troop H, at 860-534-1098 or through email at michael.dean@ct.gov.

State police also ask that any motorist that has a vehicle equipped with a dashcam, and was driving through the area at the time of the collision, contact Dean.
