Naugatuck Motorcyclist, 18, Killed In Waterbury Crash: State Police | Naugatuck, CT Patch

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Naugatuck teen was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon on Route 8 in Waterbury, according to state police.

In an accident summary, state police said Rian Andrade, 18, of Naugatuck, was riding a motorcycle near Exit 30 of Route 8 north around 2:30 p.m. when the vehicle veered left, drove through a grass median and collided with a metal beam guardrail in the left shoulder.

Andrade was taken to Waterbury Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, state police said.

The highway was closed for approximately two hours as state police investigated the incident. The damaged motorcycle was towed away from the area.

There have been several serious and sometimes fatal accidents involving motorcycles in Connecticut this summer. Three people were killed and two injured in motorcycle accidents over the last weekend in July.

State police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Troop A - Southbury at 203-267-2200.
