Green Creek Township, Ohio — A Tiffin man was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck Friday morning.

According to the Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 10:44 a.m. Friday and occurred at the intersection of State Route 101 and County Road 177 in Sandusky County.

74-year-old Richard Zoeller, of Tiffin, was driving a gray 2016 Honda CR-V northeast bound on SR 101.

62-year-old Robert Dunn, of Brush Creek, Tennessee, was driving a white 2021 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck southbound on SR 101, approaching the intersection of CR 177.

Troopers say Dunn failed to stop at the stop sign for CR 177, and drove into the driver’s side of Zoeller’s vehicle.

Zoeller’s vehicle then ran off the right side of the roadway. Dunn’s semi-truck ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a traffic sign post, and struck a group of trees.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol/drug impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash, according to OSHP.

Dunn sustained minor injuries and was taken by Sandusky County EMS to Bellevue Hospital.

Zoeller sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
