1 Injured, Customers Without Power After Newton Substation Fire | Newton, MA Patch

NEWTON, MA — A worker is injured and around 2,500 Eversource customers are without power following a fire at an electrical substation in Newton Monday afternoon, reported WCVB.

The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. at a substation on Homer Street across from Newton City Hall, the Newton Fire Department told WCVB.

One man suffered burns to his arms, neck, and head. He was taken to Mass General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A second person who was inside the building did not require hospitalization.

Fire officials said high levels of carbon monoxide had to be vented from the building.

This incident remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
