HASLETT — Traffic was moving normally again at a Meridian Township intersection following a Friday morning crash that knocked down a utility pole and left more than 600 utility customers without power.

Meridian Township Police Capt. Rick Grillo said all traffic lanes at the intersection of Marsh and East Lake Lansing roads were back open early Friday afternoon. The traffic signal was functioning, he said.

Consumers Energy's outage map indicated the power outage had been cleared.

Grillo said the single-vehicle crash was reported shortly before 7 a.m. near the intersection. As of 8 a.m. both Meridian Township police officers and Consumers Energy representatives were on the scene.

Grillo said a vehicle collided with a utility pole, taking out the pole and bringing down wires. The traffic light at the intersection lost power. The driver was not injured. Consumers Energy reported more than 682 people didn’t have power near the crash site this morning,

Ingham County officials issued an alert about 10:45 a.m. indicating Marsh Road north of East Lake Lansing Road would be closed for much of the day.
