The Government of Dominica is calling for EOIs for the design and installation of a transmission network for the geothermal power plant planned in Roseau Valley.

The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has issued a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the design, supply, and installation of a 69-kV transmission network from the planned geothermal substation at the Roseau Valley to Fond Cole and Sugar Loaf. EOIs are to be submitted to TransmissionNetwork@geodominica.com by September 12, 2022.

The contract will include the installation and construction of transmission lines and substations. Preparatory work for the transmission network was mentioned by Dominica PM Roosevelt Skerrit along with several other updates on the Dominica geothermal project during the 2022-2023 budget presentation, as we had reported previously.

The geothermal project is being developed by the Dominica Geothermal Development Company in the village of Laudat in Roseau Valley with a planned capacity of 10 MW. In early 2022, the Iceland Drilling Company was contracted to drill two additional wells for the project. Construction of the power plant is planned to start within the year and is expected to last 18 months.
